Pregnancy Week 2

Ovulation week

About 38 weeks until birth

The first weeks
  1. 1Preparation
  2. 2Ovulation

Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period; there is no embryo yet in the first three weeks. The first size comparison starts in week 4.

Preparations are ramping up! Ovulation is approaching — this is your most fertile week.

What's Happening With Your Baby This Week?

  • The dominant follicle is maturing and will be ready for ovulation once it reaches about 20 mm in diameter.
  • The uterine wall is thickening to welcome a baby; the endometrium reaches 8-14 mm.
  • LH (Luteinizing Hormone) begins to surge and will trigger ovulation.
  • Cervical mucus becomes more fluid and clear, making it easier for sperm to pass through.
  • The egg cell released from the ovary waits in the fallopian tubes for fertilization for about 12-24 hours.

This Week's Tips for Mom

  • Paying attention to healthy eating is especially valuable right now; whole grains, fresh vegetables, and fruits are wonderful choices.
  • Keeping caffeine intake below 200 mg per day is a good idea (about 1-2 cups of coffee).
  • You can track your ovulation days using basal body temperature measurements or ovulation tests.
  • Opting for moderate activities like walking and swimming instead of intense exercise would be better.
  • Drinking plenty of water is very important; at least 8-10 glasses per day can support reproductive health.
Tip of the day: Tracking ovulation can maximize your chances of conceiving. Observing cervical mucus changes and measuring your basal body temperature will help you identify your most fertile days.
