The baby is growing rapidly and the space inside is getting tighter!
What's Happening With Your Baby This Week?
- Bones are hardening, but the skull bones remain flexible and unjoined to facilitate delivery.
- Muscle mass is increasing rapidly; movements feel stronger and more defined.
- The brain is growing fast; head circumference is expanding to accommodate increasing brain volume.
- Breathing movement practice has become regular; you may frequently feel hiccups.
- Subcutaneous white fat tissue is increasing; this fat will maintain body temperature after birth.
This Week's Tips for Mom
- Your growing uterus puts pressure on your diaphragm; feeling short of breath is completely normal.
- Eating in small, frequent portions will help; your stomach capacity may be reduced.
- Colostrum (early milk) may leak from your breasts; this is perfectly natural and a sign your body is preparing to breastfeed.
- Writing out your birth plan and sharing it with your doctor would be great.
- Continuing with pelvic floor exercises (Kegel) is wonderful; they can provide great benefits during and after delivery.
Tip of the day: A C-shaped pregnancy support pillow can become your best friend for improving sleep quality. These pillows support both your belly and lower back, helping you find a comfortable sleeping position.
