What's Happening With Your Baby This Week?

  • Taste buds on the tongue have developed and the baby can distinguish flavors in the amniotic fluid.
  • The baby can taste the flavors of the foods you eat through the amniotic fluid; food preferences are already forming!
  • Regular sleep-wake cycles are developing; the baby often sleeps while you're awake.
  • Bone marrow is beginning to take over blood cell production from the liver.
  • Movements are more coordinated and powerful; you can now clearly feel kicks and punches.

This Week's Tips for Mom

  • Being mindful about not standing for too long can help prevent varicose veins. Compression stockings might also help.
  • Resting your legs frequently is wonderful; try elevating your feet when sitting.
  • Gaining about 0.5 kg per week is quite normal during this period. Tracking excessive or insufficient weight gain with your doctor is the safest approach.
  • Heartburn and reflux may start; eating small portions frequently will help you feel much better.
  • You can start researching and signing up for childbirth preparation classes; online options are also available.
Tip of the day: You may notice your baby becoming more active when you eat chocolate or sweets! Research shows that when mothers consume various flavors, babies tend to be more open to those tastes after birth.
