Pregnancy week by week

Week by week, your baby grows from a cluster of cells a few millimetres across into a baby ready to be born. The 3D view lets you follow that change with your own eyes: the sac, the cord and the placenta, with your baby's size and position for that week.

Each week also shows your baby's approximate length, weight and heartbeat. The models are illustrations based on average development in medical sources; they do not replace an ultrasound and your baby's measurements may differ a little.

For detailed development notes, changes in your body and tips for the week, see the pregnancy week-by-week pages too.

What you can do

  • See your baby's development in the womb from week 1 to week 40 as a 3D model
  • Rotate and zoom the model with your finger or mouse
  • Approximate length, weight and heartbeat for the week
  • Play the development from start to finish and watch the weeks change

How to use it

  1. The page opens at your pregnancy week; if you are not signed in, it shows the week you came from or week 20.
  2. Rotate and zoom the model and read length, weight and heartbeat in the card below.
  3. Use the link below to open that week's pregnancy guide for all the details.

Your own week is free; other weeks and playback come with HeyMom Pro.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 3D image my actual baby?

No. The models are illustrations based on average development in medical sources. Your baby's real image and measurements come from ultrasound and your prenatal checkups.

When does a baby start to look human?

The basic structure of the organs forms in the first 8 weeks. Around weeks 10 to 12 the face, arms and legs become clear; after that the baby mainly grows and gains weight.

Which weeks can I see?

You can see your own pregnancy week. Browsing all 40 weeks and playing the development come with HeyMom Pro; without signing in only the opened week is shown.

What if the 3D view doesn't open?

The scene needs WebGL. Reload the page, use an up-to-date browser and make sure hardware acceleration is on. Some older devices may not support the 3D view.
