Daily routine
- Milk is still the main food. Breastfeed or give formula first, then the spoon 30-60 minutes later.
- A few sips of water from a cup with meals.
- No salt, sugar or honey. Honey is not given before age 1.
- Cow's milk as a drink after age 1. Yogurt and cheese are fine.
Gagging or choking?
Gagging is normal: face turns red, baby coughs and makes noise. Wait, they'll bring it up.
Choking is silent and lips turn blue. Have someone call 112 right away. Give 5 back blows, then 5 chest thrusts, and repeat until it clears.
Safety
- Sit baby upright and never leave them alone while eating.
- No whole grapes, whole nuts or raw carrot slices.
- Give peanut only as a thin, watered-down butter.
